What is IMatch?
IMatch is a digital asset management system (DAM) for Windows and the Web. See what IMatch can do for you.
What is WIC?
Dng Codec Windows 10
A quick, simple and lightweight batch image converter powered by Windows. Supporting convertering between BMP, JPEG, JPEG-XR, GIF, TIFF, DDS, PNG, RAW, HEIF, ICO. DNG Codec for Windows 64 bit 1.0 file size: 1.34 MB The DNG codec is a plug in for Windows Vista x64 and XP 64 that allows you to view Adobe Digital Negative (DNG) raw files. DNG files can be opened with several different image viewers, including the built-in Photos app in Windows and macOS, Able RAWer, and ACD Systems' Canvas X. Though they're not free, Photoshop and Lightroom also support DNG files. The Adobe Photoshop Express app for Android can open DNG files, too; the same one is available for iOS.
IMatch supports the Windows Imaging Component (WIC) framework supported in Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10 and later versions of Windows.
Windows WIC enables applications like IMatch to work with image formats (including RAW files) via so-called codecs provided by camera vendors, Microsoft or 3rd parties. Without the need to know the internal details of a file format, IMatch can handle the files as long as a working codec is installed.
Please ensure that you have always installed the latest RAW codec (WIC codec) available from your camera vendor’s web site. This ensures that IMatch can read and reproduce the images with the best possible quality. Camera vendors make changes to their RAW files almost with every camera model. If you work with scanners, microscopes and similar, your hardware vendor most likely also supplies a codec if the scanner emits a proprietary file format.
Note: Do not install multiple codecs from different vendors for the same RAW format. Experience tells that this may lead to more or less subtle problems when processing RAW files.
Windows Built-in WIC Codecs
Current Windows versions include a set of WIC codecs which support a wide range of common RAW formats. Note that not all camera format variants are supported, though.
Over the years, camera vendors introduced dozens of incompatible format variants which all use the same file extension. This complicates the process of providing a WIC codec for all camera models. Contact your camera vendor for assistance if you need more information.
Windows 7 Users
Windows 7 does not include the Microsoft WIC codecs. You can download them from the Microsoft web site. At this time, the download link is https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26829. If the link no longer works, search for “Microsoft Windows WIC Codec Pack Download”.
HEIC/HEIF Support on Windows 10
HEIC is a modern still image / video format mostly used on the Mac platform. In order to process HEIC files in IMatch you need to install a WIC codec. The standard WIC codecs included in Windows 10 don’t support HEIC/HEIF by default.
Microsoft provides a free WIC codec for Windows which adds support for HEIC to the operating system. To find this WIC codec, search for HEIF Image Extensions
on the Microsoft web site or use your favorite search engine. Make sure you install the original codec created by Microsoft.
A Note on DNG Files
There are now many different variants of DNG files in use. Adobe has expanded the format many times, creating a large variety of DNG ‘flavors’ over time. DNG files produced by software from other vendors, cameras and other imaging devices also comes in different versions.
Make sure that you always use the most recent version of whatever DNG codec you prefer generating 100% previews in ACR or your camera is usually the best way to get consistent results across a wide range of applications.
WIC Codec Download Sites
NOTE: Windows 10 contains a current set of WIC codecs which support a wide variety of RAW formats. If your RAW format is not yet supported, contact your camera vendor and Microsoft for support.
This is a list I compiled from various sources. Let me know if a vendor is missing or a link is wrong.

photools.com RAW Processing and LibRAW Support
If no WIC codec is available for one or more RAW variants you use, IMatch uses its built-in RAW processing pipeline based on LibRaw to create thumbnails and cache images. LibRaw is an awesome OpenSource project which is actively maintained and supports hundreds of RAW format variants.
They also offer an excellent and affordable software called FastRawViewer for viewing Raw files on the Mac and Windows.
Enforcing photools.com RAW Processing
When IMatch processes a RAW file for which a WIC codec is installed, it first uses this WIC codec to extract a thumbnail or to create a cache image. If this fails and the WIC codec is unable to produce an image, IMatch automatically falls back to its internal RAW processing based on LibRaw,
Under some conditions an installed WIC codec may be able to extract an image, but that image is too small or ‘does not look good’. IMatch will use that image anyway because it has no way to tell that the WIC codec delivered an image but it is not very good.
Iomega iconnect software download mac. If you run into this situation, you can force IMatch to ignore installed WIC codecs and always use the photools.com RAW processing pipeline via Edit menu > Preferences > Application. Search for RAW on that page and set the option Prefer photools.com RAW processing to yes. Then force a rescan of the files with the ‘bad’ thumbnails/cache images by selecting them in a File Window and pressing Shift+Ctrl+F5. IMatch now ignores WIC codecs and always processes RAW files with internal routines.
The public archival format for digital camera raw data
Raw file formats are popular in digital photography workflows because they offer greater creative control. However, cameras can use many different raw formats, the specifications for which are not publicly available. This means that not every raw file can be read by a variety of software applications. As a result, the use of these proprietary raw files as a long-term archival solution carries risk and sharing these files across complex workflows is challenging.
Digital Negative (DNG) is a publicly available archival format for raw files which are generated by various digital cameras. This addresses the lack of an open standard for raw files created by individual camera models and ensures that photographers easily access their files.
Hundreds of software manufacturers such as Apple and Google have developed support for DNG. And respected camera manufacturers such as Leica, Casio, Ricoh, Samsung, and Pentax have introduced cameras that provide direct DNG support. To learn more, see Camera Raw.
In addition to the Digital Negative Specification, Adobe provides the free Adobe DNG Converter (Windows Mac OS), which easily translates raw files from many of today's popular cameras. Software developers and manufacturers can download the complete DNG Specification (PDF, 742 KB). DNG is supported by the following software versions: Photoshop CS to Photoshop, Photoshop Elements 3 to Photoshop Elements 12, and all versions of Lightroom.
For photographers:
- DNG format helps promote archival confidence, since digital imaging software solutions will be able to open raw files more easily in the future.
- A single raw processing solution enables a more efficient workflow when handling raw files from multiple camera models and manufacturers.
- A publicly documented and readily available specification can be easily adopted by camera manufacturers and updated to accommodate technology changes.
For hardware and software manufacturers:Idm free download full version with key crack zip file.
- DNG removes a potential barrier to new camera adoption, since raw files from new models will be immediately supported by Photoshop and other applications.
- The DNG format allows R&D savings by reducing the need to develop new formats and by simplifying camera testing.
- A common format allows greater control over the quality of conversions by third-party applications.
- The specification allows the addition of private metadata to DNG files, enabling differentiation.
The Profiles SDK provides resources for creating enhanced profiles introduced in Lightroom Classic CC 7.3, Lightroom CC 1.3, and Camera Raw 10.3.
Download the specification, which describes a nonproprietary file format for storing camera raw files that can be used by a wide range of hardware and software vendors.
The DNG SDK provides support for reading and writing DNG files as well as for converting DNG data to a format that is easily displayed or processed by imaging applications. This SDK can serve as a starting point for the addition of DNG support to existing applications that use and manipulate images or as an aid to the inclusion of DNG support within cameras.
