Shut down the laptop, and unplug the main power cable. Disconnect any external devices from the computer, and close the LCD panel. Attach an antistatic wrist strap to your wrist.

Pull open the battery and hard drive compartment covers along the right side edge of the laptop’s casing. Grasp the battery pack’s pull-tab, and pull the battery from its compartment. Do the same to the hard drive situated next to the battery compartment.

Place the laptop face down, and remove all Phillips-head screws from the laptop’s bottom. Flip the laptop over, and pull open the display panel.

Grasp the LCD screen panel, and rotate it to the left or to the right until the two Phillips-head screws in the laptop’s upper right and left corners are revealed. The LCD panel sits on a vertical hinge that allows it to swivel in both directions. Remove the screws, and rotate the screen so it is back in its normal position.

Grasp each side of the palm rest area just below the keyboard, and tilt it upward away from the laptop. Remove the palm rest assembly from the laptop. Grasp the top edge of the keyboard, tilt it away from the laptop’s casing and disconnect its ribbon cable from the motherboard. Remove the keyboard from the laptop.
